Technology Evangelist (Databricks)

As a Technology Evangelist at Databricks, you will ensure that our customers, partners, field engineering and sales teams have the required technical content and tools to successfully position, sell and deploy our solutions. The Technology Evangelist will collaborate with Customer Engagement, Product Management, Product Marketing, Sales, and Engineering team members to identify, prioritize, develop, and evangelize the appropriate content. In addition, you will be chartered with tracking changes in the competitive landscape and maintain updated competitive analysis of both our key and emerging competitors. The role is based in San Francisco, CA but may require some travel to work with customers, technology partners, sales, and channel partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create tools such as reference architectures, technical videos, chalk talks, webinars, white papers, and best practices guides, to help customers to deploy Databricks Cloud in their environment
  • Create and deliver tools, guidelines and training content for sales engineers and partners related to positioning and deployment of Databricks Cloud
  • Deliver technical presentations at tradeshows, conferences, meet-ups, and other selected events
  • Creation and delivery of demos and onsite support at tradeshows
  • Understand the customer workflow for target use cases environments, identify the best fit for Databricks solutions, and create corresponding technical collateral and tools
  • Track and analyze the competitive landscape and market positioning of all competitors
  • Perform detailed technical analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of competitive products through hands-on lab testing
  • Develop and maintain competitive analysis including white papers, solution briefs, application notes, videos, and presentations
  • Perform detailed technical analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of competitive products through hands-on testing

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years in a customer-facing technical marketing, sales engineering or consulting role
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka & Storm
  • Understanding of distributed data systems
  • Comfortable writing code in either Python, Scala or Java
  • Experience creating technical collateral and sales tools
  • Excellent presentation and white-boarding skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Good public speaking skills are desirable
  • Must be a proactive contributor, subject matter expert, and technical storyteller who is capable of influencing others
