SPARK + AI SUMMIT 2018

Since pioneering the summit in 2013, Spark Summits have become the world’s largest big data event focused entirely on Apache Spark—assembling the best engineers, scientists, analysts, and executives from around the globe to share their knowledge and receive expert training on this open-source powerhouse. Also, many thousands have come to learn how Spark, big data, machine learning, data engineering, and data science are delivering new insights to businesses and institutions worldwide.

Now we want to further explore how Spark and AI are jointly shaping the world of cognitive computing and how AI’s adoption is creating new opportunities in business with innovative use cases. We have renamed to the Spark + AI Summit and shifted its focus to incorporate aspects of AI: from autonomous and self-driving cars to voice and image recognition and from intelligent chatbots and new deep learning frameworks and techniques to efficient machine learning algorithms, models and methods in vision, speech, deep learning and distributed learning at scale.

Apache Spark is a powerful open source processing engine built around speed, ease of use, and sophisticated analytics. It was started at UC Berkeley in 2009 and is now developed at the vendor-independent Apache Software Foundation. Since its release, Spark has seen rapid adoption by enterprises across a wide range of industries. Internet powerhouses such as Yahoo, eBay and Netflix have deployed Spark at massive scale, processing multiple petabytes of data on clusters of over 8,000 nodes. Apache Spark has also become the largest open source community in big data, with over 1000 contributors from 250+ organizations.
