Tom has 25 years of experience with virtualization and storage sub-systems, making him uniquely suited to develop technologies pushing the limits of Spark and Hadoop performance in containerized environments. Tom spent 10 years as the ESX storage architect at VMware. Earlier, he was a member of the original team that designed and implemented XFS, the first commercially available 64 bit file system. Currently, Tom is Chief Architect and co-founder of BlueData Software where has evaluated and implemented Docker containers for Big Data deployments. He is also a champion and evangelist for open source projects such as Spark, Hadoop, GlusterFS, and Tachyon.
