General Manager, Analytics Platform, IBM

Beth Smith is General Manager of IBM’s Analytics Platform, responsible for IBM’s world-class platform for data and analytics, leveraging structured and unstructured information, at all levels of scale and flexibility. This next-generation platform includes Analytics, Hadoop, Spark, Stream Computing, Databases, Warehouse, Content Management, Information Integration, Master Data Management, and Governance. She is responsible for the revenue, strategy, offering management, R&D, and support for IBM’s Analytics Platform business within IBM Analytics.

Beth is a member of several global leadership teams that drive IBM’s business: the Performance Team, a group of IBM’s top business and technical leaders, responsible for managing the key operational elements of the corporation’s performance; the Technology Team, which focuses on long-term technology strategy and opportunities; and the Growth and Transformation Team, which provides guidance across IBM on strategic business issues. Previous memberships included the Strategy Team, which focuses on long-term strategic issues and opportunities.

Beth has held numerous executive positions with IBM. Prior to her current position she was General Manager of IBM’s Information Management division; Vice President of Business Analytics Products and Solutions; Vice President of WebSphere; and Vice President of Business Development for WebSphere where she led the division’s worldwide mergers, acquisitions and business partner initiatives and programs.

Beth joined IBM in 1987 after graduating from North Carolina State University with a BS in Computer Science. In 2000, Beth received the Tribute to Women in Industry award from the YWCA of Silicon Valley.
