DCG Big Data SW Grad Intern (Intel)




Come intern with Intel’s DCG (data center group). As part of Big Data Solutions you will be working on various Research & Development, proof-of-concepts and benchmarking tasks on new technologies/areas in the Big Data space, including Hadoop, Spark, Machine Learning, NOSQL Databases and Analytics with a focus towards architecture analysis and optimizations. In this role, you will work with Architects and Senior Engineers by profiling, analyzing, optimizing and accelerating big data architecture and workloads including database and analytics frameworks and help define and evaluate architecture optimization across software (scheduler, resource manager, etc.) and hardware (compute, memory, network and storage, etc.) components in the datacenter. You will develop and use analysis tools and methodologies to explore the design space and implement and evaluate potential solutions.

Starting period: Summer 2015
Length: 3 months



Must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing MS or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Bio-informatics or Statistics
  • Must have at least 3 months experience in the following:
  • Big Data technologies, Machine Learning, Data Analysis
  • Computer architecture and performance evaluation tools.
  • Linux, remote access and knowledge of shell scripts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Architecture analysis using workload profiling, instrumentation, simulation, emulation, etc.
  • Cluster software experience with Scheduler, Resource manager, Communication, Storage components
